Maersk Line has launched the world largest container vessel of Emma Maersk on 01 September 2006.The M/V EMMA MAERSK was built by Odense steel shipyard and vessel delivered to AP MOLLER-MAERSK. Maersk line is a Denmark’s leading container shipping company as well as leading container vessel operator in the world.

According to the TEU capacity she is the world’s largest container vessel ever built. Emma Maersk can accommodate about 13500 TEU,s. She has overall length of 397 meters; beam 56.4 meters and draft of 15.5 meters. According to the length of beam, she can load containers in 22 across. Her dead weight is 156,900 dwt. But this giant vessel requires a crew of only 13. She has sailed her commercial maiden voyage on 08^th September 2006 from Aarhus APM terminal and then Gothenberg, Bremerhavan, Rotterdam, Algeciras, Suez Canal, Singapore, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohoma, Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjun Pelepas and back again to Europe.

Hull of the Emma Maersk has been covered with environmentally friendly silicon paint, reducing water resistant and the vessel’s fuel consumption by closely 1200 tones annually.
